Draft CNIL Recommendation to Protect Privacy in Mobile Applications

By

The CNIL (Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés) has conducted a public consultation on its draft recommendation regarding the processing of personal data by mobile applications. The draft recommendation clarifies and defines the role of each player involved in developing and making mobile applications available to the public, as well as provides specific recommendations for each category of players concerning user information and consent collection, permission systems for accessing sensitive resources, and best practices for the benefit of users. Any public or private stakeholder is eligible to participate in the consultation and contributions must be written in French. After the consultation is ended, the CNIL will adopt a final version of the recommendation.
