"George Botic Appointed to Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Board of Directors
The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed George Botic, CPA, to serve on the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). His appointment fills a vacancy left by Duane DesParte who had served on the PCAOB since April 2018 and as Acting Chair from June 2021 to January 2022. Mr. Botic previously held various positions at the PCAOB, including Director of the Division of Registration and Inspections, Director of the Office of International Affairs, special advisor to Former Chair James R. Doty, and Deputy Director of the Registration and Inspections Division. He was also a senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers prior to joining the PCAOB. The objective of the PCAOB is to protect investors and maintain the accuracy of public company audit reports. During his tenure at the Board, Mr. DesParte sought to increase stakeholder engagement and was heavily involved in the PCAOB's international activities. Mr. Botic will carry on these efforts in his new role.
