"IoT Devices: Protect Your Personal Data or Pay the Price"

The UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is urging companies that produce connected devices such as "Internet of Things" to be transparent about the data they collect and how it is used. The Executive Director of Regulatory Risk, Stephen Almond, believes that people should not have to pay a price which compromises their personal data in order to make use of such technology. An ICO guidance document is being developed with the aim of protecting user data, and the ICO will take action if companies are found to be violating these rules.
