Cooperation on Cyber Security: ICO and NCSC Sign MoU
The NCSC and ICO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise their commitment to working together to improve the UK's cyber security. The MoU recognizes that both organizations have distinct responsibilities but opportunities to align work and de-conflict on shared issues. This includes cooperation on the development of cyber security standards and guidance, as well as influencing improvements in the cyber security of organisations regulated by the ICO. Under this new MoU, the ICO will encourage organisations to participate appropriately with the NCSC on cyber security matters, incentivising engagement through reduced penalties for reporting incidents. They will also share information with each other on a anonymised basis to help the NCSC make the UK safer online. The two organisations will also collaborate to produce more effective guidance and feedback processes.
