Data Breach at Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies: ICO Investigating Sensitive Information Disclosed in Freedom of Information Requests

By

Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies have revealed a data breach involving Freedom of Information (FOI) requests for crime statistics, issued between April 2021 and March 2022. The potential impact of such a breach has been echoed by Stephen Bonner, Deputy Commissioner at the ICO, who warned users to ensure their information is secure when releasing sensitive material. In order to provide further protection, the investigation will examine two separate breaches which were reported in November 2022. To help users feel safe, the ICO will continue supporting organisations in protecting personal data.
