"Data Sharing Practises: Enhancing Safeguarding Policies to Protect Children"

By

Recent deaths and serious harm of children due to abuse or neglect have sparked the need for organizations and agencies in the UK to improve their data sharing practices. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has responded by developing a guide to support senior leaders in setting up policies, systems, and training so that staff members are properly encouraged and empowered to share data in an appropriate, safe, and legally compliant way. Additionally, the ICO will create guidance targeted at specific sectors within the UK, taking into account differing regulations and policies. Ultimately, it is the goal of the ICO to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future due to poor information sharing amongst agencies.
